Abigail McKay Cherry

Welcome!

My name is Abigail McKay Cherry

Abigail McKay Cherry is a full lyric soprano based in Metro Detroit, Michigan. Known for her expressive sound and versatility, she has performed leading roles including the Governess (The Turn of the Screw), Eva Crowley (An American Dream), and Lady Billows (Albert Herring). In addition to her performing, Abigail is an Applied Instructor of Voice at Oakland University, where she teaches Voice and Diction.

Abigail holds a BM from Oakland University and an MM and Certificate of Vocology from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Dr. Brian Gill. She is a recipient of  the Sarah Joan Tuccelli-Gilbert Memorial Fellowship in Voice and recently graduated from the prestigious 2026 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Intern Program.

 

With roots in choral and sacred music, Abigail is a staff singer at the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul in Detroit. Additionally, she sang three seasons with the Detroit Concert Choir, the winner of the 1996 Choir of the World competition.
